FANA: Back in a Sec
Premiered at 9th Yerevan International Short Film Festival
A high-speed drive ends in a violent crash and a confrontation with mortality. Conceived, directed, animated, and completed independently amid severe internet disruptions in Iran.
About
Back in a Sec began as a technical experiment.
Rita wanted to test whether emerging AI tools could sustain character, mood, movement, timing, and space across a complete narrative sequence, particularly a high-speed car crash that would normally demand a complex conventional production.
The experiment became a short film.
Production Context
The film was created independently in early 2026 during periods of severe internet disruption in Iran.
Working within a narrow window of connectivity and limited resources, Rita developed the film from character and visual development through generation, animation, editing, sound, and final delivery.
Why It Matters
Back in a Sec became an early proof of concept for a larger filmmaking practice.
It demonstrated that increasingly complex cinematic sequences could be created independently when direction, visual development, animation, editing, and post-production were treated as one integrated process.
