FANA: Dead Hour
After a rocket destroys her apartment, Ahu flees through the ruins of her city and descends into a subterranean purgatory where the dead wait in silence.
A sleepless woman trapped inside a house confronts trauma, paranoia, and the lingering presence of an abusive relationship.
After leaving an abusive relationship, a young woman spends a night alone struggling with insomnia, intrusive memories, hallucinations, and suicidal thoughts.
As she tries to keep a threatening presence outside the house, the boundary between memory, fear, and reality begins to collapse.
Vile Affection was Rita's first live-action narrative film.
Created with an extremely small production setup, the film was shot in her brother's house with Rita working as a one-person crew across story development, camera, animation, sound design, and production.
The film was inspired by a photographic series created by Maria Manafizadeh and Torfeh Ekhlasi, and grew into a psychological portrait of fear and paranoia surrounding domestic violence.
