Vile Affection is a short experimental film that follows one night in the life of a young woman as she senses the presence of a violent ex-partner. This unseen yet oppressive presence triggers insomnia, PTSD episodes, and suicidal thoughts, slowly unraveling her sense of safety and reality.
The film is an intimate two-person cinematic production. It is the result of a collaboration between Negar Roshani as the film’s performer and Rita Rahimi, who single-handedly handled all aspects of production and post-production. The initial concept was inspired by a photography series by Maria Manafizadeh and Tarfeh Ekhlasi.
